If I was prime minister

Questions:
Yesterday John Key resigned as New Zealand’s Prime Minister because… he thought his time was up. He also wanted to spend more time with his family. John Key quoted, “ ...it was one of the hardest decisions I had to make…”.

He spent 10 years as leader of the National party.

The responsibilities of the Prime Minister are to… The responsibilities of the prime minister is to look after New zealand and to create laws to protect people and so our country of New zealand can stay calm and have peace in the world not wae
We thank him for his efforts but… He has been trying to make the rich people more rich and the poor people more poor

Start writing here:
If I was Prime Minister I would… Start off by making a good impression to the people of New Zealand and by helping the poor by giving them food a home and a job and I will also help them with what caused them to go out on the streets if it was addiction or if it was family problems.

I will also give kids a opportunities to get a free laptop phone and free WiFi.

Wow I really enjoyed reading this. Your understanding of how the PM has been increasing the gap between the rich and poor is well above your age group. It is really exciting to see you so interested in politics at such a young age. Try and keep that interest as you grow older and never give up on trying to make things better for the poor.

It is important to focus on why people end up addicted or homeless, like you said, and you are right that it can often be attributed to the environment they are in. If they are not supported, or have no money, no help, nobody to care, then it is a lot easier to give up instead of fighting for their slice of happiness.

You don't know me yet, but I am Mark, a teacher working on the Summer Learning Journey you signed up for at the end of term. I understand you might be busy now that you've finished at Pt England, but if you feel bored over the holidays, this programme is pretty cool and lots of your classmates are doing it. It's all about travel and have loads of different activities. I'm sure you'd do well in it.

In any case, kia kaha! Good luck with college next year and keep on doing your best!

    Mark
